Home Learning – 20/03/20

Hello All,

Friday 20th March

Daily Activities

  1. Check that logins are working for the following websites.
  2. There are suggested activities for each website. They do not all have to be completed today.

Google Classroom – Have a go at the Kahoot quiz on similes and metaphors from this week.

Epic Books – Try to favourite any book that you particularly enjoy.

Giglets – Each reading group had been assigned a book to read.

Education City

Active Learn – There are some assigned games reinforcing the multiplication and division concepts that we have been working on in class.

The Family Learning page in the ‘For Parents’ section of the website has a range of suggested activities including videos for the maths pack games.

I will continue to work through sending out the log-in details for any child that was absent on Wednesday. Details will be sent to the email address that has been provided to the school. If this email address has changed, please let me know by emailing lauren.walker@glenurquharthigh.org.uk

A more detailed plan for home learning will be issued on Monday 23rd for the week.

“Pirates of the Curry Bean” permission slips & ticket requests

Thank you to everyone who has returned their permission slip and ticket request form.

Please can everyone hand these in as soon as possible? (There are lots of families waiting to hear if they can have a 3rd ticket for the Tuesday evening.)

Many thanks,

Miss Mullin and the P7 ticketing team

World Book Day

We had a fantastic day yesterday celebrating world book day. Have a look below at some pictures showing what we got up to.

Drama – Fairytales

P4/5 created a short mime based on a traditional fairytale story. Then, the other children had to try and guess what it was.

Epic Books

The class were then some time to explore the website ‘Epic Books’. The children particularly enjoyed when the website reads aloud and adds sound effects to some of the books.

Construction in the Woods

P4/5 went down to the woods to try and build a home for the Three Little Pigs. The home had to be strong enough to withstand the wolf if it tried to ‘huff and puff’!

Jammin Fitness

Today Primary 4 and 5 pupils welcomed Andy McKechnie from Jammin Fitness. They travelled around the world, learning dances inspired by different countries. They had a great morning and loved performing what they had worked on to the rest of the school. Have a look at what they got up to.

Maths Rotations

Today P4/5 we’re working on their multiplication and division facts. They were also learning about remainders and how to show this in a written sum.

Groups of children rotated around different maths stations, each with a different focus.

The class really enjoyed the variety of activities to support their learning preferences.

Rights of the Child

Following on from our work last week, P4/5 worked with Mrs Laird today and heard about a child called Reema, from Syria who was not getting various rights met. The class compared various facts about Syria with those we knew about Scotland and we had a great discussion. They then looked at various rights and considered whether Reema was getting these met, wasn’t getting them met or if we couldn’t tell from the information we had.
