Primary 5/6 ~ Miss MacDonald 2019/20
Last week, our wildlife explorers had a very exciting encounter! During our bird spotting activity we were delighted to see redwings visiting our special rowan tree! A very lucky moment. 🙂

We have had lots of opportunities this week for P4/5 to develop their talking and listening skills. Here we have one pupil sharing their ‘Spooky Story’ with the class 👻. Also, another pupil shares her passion for the Military Choir that her family are involved with. Well done girls!

Today we had a great morning visiting the Care Centre to decorate some Halloween themed biscuits. Well done to all, especially our winners of the biscuit decorating competition! Happy Halloween 🎃

It was so lovely to see everyone back after the holidays. Today we were using different techniques to create a Diwali lantern after learning about the festival.

Today P4/5 joined with classes across the UK as part of the live BBC Teach Lesson for World Mental Health Day. We learned about having a growth mindset, mindfulness and the importance of self-care. Can your child show you the ‘finger breathing’ technique we were learning?
Today P4/5 have been using their creativity skills to create Titanic playdoh models. Each pair worked together to create a dough. They tried hard not to make the mixture too wet by adding just a little bit of water at a time. Here are some pictures of our work.

As you know, we are learning about the titanic this term as part of our interdisciplinary learning topic. P4/5 have been working hard to create ‘freeze frames’ showing their character before, during and after the Titanic hit the iceberg. The pupils are also using the freeze frames to help with their Titanic diary entries in writing.
P4/5 worked in groups to decide what their character’s role would be before presenting their freeze frames to the rest of the class. Can your child tell you what their character was feeling and why in each frame?

Hello from P4/5! Here is a copy of our class newsletter for this term. We hope you enjoy reading about everything we are learning this term.
